PlateButler® Pier & PlateButler® BarQ

Developments in laboratories evolve rapidly which is creating a demand for flexible and modular robotic automation systems. Applications can change on a weekly basis resulting in the need to be able to change equipment into the robotic automation systems easily. Also using capital instruments into these systems is seen more and more. Ideally these expensive instruments can be shared between different robotic automation systems and departments.

For this purpose, Lab Services developed the PlateButler® Pier & PlateButler® BarQ: a flexible modular solution to dock and undock devices onto your PlateButler® Robotic System. This way your key devices can be shared over the different applications in the lab.

The PlateButler® Pier is the static part on the system that allows the PlateButler® BarQ to land on. This way the PlateButler® BarQ can sail from system to system, providing you with the maximum system flexibility and modularity.

The PlateButler® Pier & PlateButler® BarQ are equipped with connections to supply power, serial ports, ethernet communication and compressed air. Furthermore, each PlateButler® BarQ has an identifier so that the PlateButler® Robotic System can identify which ones are connected and can be used.

With the sophisticated connecting system between the PlateButler® Pier & PlateButler® BarQ the trolleys can be changed within seconds without having to re-teach the PlateButler® robot arm or having to set up the communication with the instruments. You can even change the location of your PlateButler® BarQ during a run, in order to get better system throughput by creating shorter travel routes for the robot arm.

As with all devices in PlateButler® Robotic Systems, the equipment in the PlateButler® BarQ can be used manually or in off-line mode, even during the run! This is a standard feature of our PlateButler® Manager Software.

The PlateButler® BarQ positions are guaranteed with our new innovative connecting system (without reserving floor space for unused positions).
