Furkan studies Mechatronics Engineering at Yonder College and is 18 years old. During his ten-week internship at LAB Services, he discovered how electronics, engineering, and automation come together in real-world projects.
His curiosity started before his internship even began. During his first visit to LAB Services, Furkan noticed several technical projects displayed in the hallway. “I immediately started wondering: What does it do? How do you build something like this, and how does it work?” That curiosity made him eager to join the company.
“When I came in for my interview, the atmosphere immediately felt right.” Furkan was looking for more than just an internship, he wanted to understand the complete process of building something, from the first idea to a finished solution. At LAB Services, he was given the freedom to explore and learn. “It’s really nice that you get the freedom here to figure things out yourself. You can discover what interests you and work on something that fits you.”
One of Furkan’s favorite parts of his internship is working at the soldering station. “I really enjoy working there. The atmosphere is relaxed, and I enjoy working on a variety of different tasks.” He also likes the balance between working independently and being part of a team. “Sometimes everyone is focused on their own work, but there are also times when we chat and enjoy working together.”
A highlight of his internship was visiting a customer. “It was really educational because I had to listen carefully to what the customer needed.” Back at LAB Services, he applied those insights while working on technical assemblies and electrical components, giving him a better understanding of how his work contributes to practical solutions.
One of Furkan’s proudest moments came when he completed a technical task with great precision. “I had to work exactly to the millimeter. When I showed the result and got approval, I was really proud.”
Looking back, Furkan sees that he grew not only as an engineer, but also as a person. “I’m naturally quite a shy person, but over the weeks I became more comfortable and talking with colleagues became much easier. My colleagues really helped me with that.”
For future interns, Furkan has simple advice: “Just be yourself, get to know everyone, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. You can learn a lot from the people around you.”
