Introduction

ELISA (Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is a commonly used biochemical technique for detecting the presence of a target molecule in a sample. It is a sensitive and specific assay that utilizes the specificity of an antigen-antibody interaction to detect and quantify the concentration of a target molecule in a sample. ELISA assays can be designed to detect a wide range of target molecules, including proteins, peptides, hormones, and drugs. ELISA is a versatile and widely used technique in biomedical research, clinical diagnostics, crop science and many other applications. To analyse a wider range of target molecules using ELISA, different antibodies are required because each antibody is specific to a particular target molecule. For example in disease diagnostics HIV, Hepatitis and Lyme are different diseases with different target molecules, so therefore you need different antibodies.

Application Purpose

This automated platform utilizes multiple dispensers, each connected to their own primary antibodies. When the system scans a plate's barcode, it determines where to place the plate and which primary antibody to add. This all is handled by our PlateButler software, which makes the platform more flexible and give it a wider range of target molecules that can be analysed. The plate is then placed in an automated incubator for the necessary time after adding the primary antibody. Once incubation is complete, the plate undergoes washing in one of the washers before being brought to another dispenser to add a secondary antibody, and is then returned to the incubator for further incubation. After the secondary antibody incubation, the plate is washed once more before being transferred to another dispenser to add the substrate. The plate is then again incubated for a short duration. Following the final incubation step, a stop solution is introduced to stop the substrate reaction. At the end the plate is moved to a plate reader for 450nm sample analysis.

Why you should choose this application

By automating ELISA analysis, this platform effectively eliminates the need for laborious manual work, streamlining the process and making it easier and more efficient for the user. With the ability to start multiple batches of plates and analyse different target molecules throughout the day, users can save valuable time and increase their productivity. Furthermore, the platform is highly customizable, allowing users to optimize the use of their lab space and tailor the system to their specific needs, making it a versatile solution for various laboratory settings or ready for future upgrades to the platform. Additionally, PlateButler software is designed to be compatible with a range of laboratory equipment, further increasing its flexibility and potential applications.
